About the department.
Our Department of Molecular and Biological Physics is one of the most
interesting in the whole native higher education system. Being trained
on famous "Phystech" system, students gain an excellent base
education in physics and math, become hi-class specialists in the chosen
field of science. But in the present period of rapid technical progress
the knowledge of only physics and math is not enough. The major
discoveries are being made at the turn of the natural sciences -
physics, chemistry and biology. Nowadays, in the advanced countries the
main part (over 80%) in financing of science is being assigned in the
fields of natural science, directly concerned the human being, e.g.
molecular chemistry and biology, biochemistry, biophysics and ecology.
All these directions are widely represented at the Department. If you
want to touch an alive cell or to comprehend secrets of controlled
thermonuclear synthesis, if you are interested in participating in the
international program "Genome of Human" or discovering the
cure against cancer and AIDS, if you like mathematical modeling of
chemical, biological and socio-economical systems using the most
powerful modern supercomputers, you'll find it all on DMBP.
The confirmation of this fact is the experience of more than 2.5
thousands graduates of the department, working in the most promising
fields of science and technique, economics and business. Being able to
look into any even unfamiliar problem, our students are always in great
requisition in the most prestige scientific and commercial organizations
either in Russia and abroad. Many graduates continue their education as
post-graduates in USA, UK, Germany and other distant foreign countries.
DMBP is perspective!
I.N.Groznov, dean of DMBP.
